The Effects of Global Warming on Wildlife, Environment, and Economy
The effect on our environment has been found to be something that is debilitating, to say the least. Essentially, global warming has changed the way that people view the environment, as people have started to shift from traditional measures of their everyday lives to “greener” measures. The concern is widespread, as we are seeing dramatic changes in our planet; people are deciding to act in efforts to preserve the only home that people have ever known.
When people generally think of global warming, they consider lowering the emissions from heat-trapping gases, or “greenhouse” gases. These gases tend to be caused from burning fossil fuels, which sparked automakers to switch to hybrid, or alternative energy vehicles. By implementing these measures, the effects of global warming can be slowed. A question that many people generally pose is what happens if global warming continues?
With the further depletion of the ozone layer, people can expect much more than the planet getting warmer. Along with increased temperature, there are other detrimental effects from global warming. The obvious would be the turmoil that our climates would be in. With increased global warming, people can expect there to be heavy downpours, flooding, as well as more droughts and fires. Unfortunately, this could potentially lead to other calamities.
Although that may sound as if it is bad enough, there is also the wildlife that is potentially in danger. With the progression of global warming, the world would see a great shift in the plant and animal life, as well as population changes. Ultimately, this would lead to their eventual demise. This has mostly been monitored in studying the polar bear. Reports have shown that with the glaciers melting, they are being displaced, roaming into areas where they were not equipped to survive.
On the other side of global warming, there are people that claim that global warming may not be that much of a threat. Furthermore, antagonists state that this will have adverse effects on various industries in the world. By decreasing production, and designating costly measures, adversaries claim that this will be enough to nearly cripple many businesses. Alternatively, it could also be said that a new economic market would spawn from environmentally friendly efforts.
